In March 2017, based on MalayMail online reporting, Selangor housing committee chairman Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad admitted that out 20,675 units for the affordable home to be built in 24 projects since the Rumah Selangorku was launched in 2014 but only 665 units had been completed.Hence, he only warned that these failed developers will not be granted with other projects in Selangor and that’s that.
The Rumah Selangorku programme is the state’s affordable housing scheme where developers must build homes ranging between RM42,000 and RM250,000 per unit. This housing project is run by the Selangor Housing and Property Board or Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Selangor (LPHS) involving a grant of RM100 million from state reserve money.
Yet, only 3 percent under the Selangorku House program is built and submitted to buyers since PKR led Selangor administration in 2008.
Not only there is huge backlog in the houses built, Azmin’s administration even lied to Selangor rakyat and in particular in Semenyih as though those houses are now completed and waiting to hand over keys to owners.
However, its developer from Eco World claimed that 50% and about 6,431 units of affordable homes comprises from RM42,000 until RM220,000 are granted to them but not even a single is built. Instead, Eco World had managed to build houses for above RM400,000 only.
Chairman of the Malaysian NGO Association Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos recently disclosed that Eco World deliberately focused on luxury homes instead ignored to build affordable homes as in the Selangorku Home development terms.
Datuk Jamal questioned Azmin’s administration if they are not aware or was it also deliberately ignored as though there were certain underhanded deals and it is even more intriguing when he mentioned that Eco World has rewarded certain luxury units to Azmin’s line of excos and including the wakil rakyat from the state ruling block.
Should this be the case, if Datuk Jamal lodge reports to MACC, that will be the wisest action to do and this also answers why Azmin had to ban Utusan and Berita Harian when these two mouthpieces will disclose how corrupt Azmin’s administration could be and how crafty they have been to deceive them?
