WHAT WE SHOULD KNOW BEFORE AZMIN’S 2018 BUDGET IS LAID OUT

Share This:

Perhaps many should be reminded that PKR and DAP are administering a rich state in Malaysia and if they wish to blow their own horn in the Selangor Budget 2018, first, it should definitely reflect their own initiatives that contribute to every development and economic growth of the state.PKR and DAP took over Selangor from Barisan Nasional only for 8 years and since independence, all the states development and wealth resulted from the previous government under Barisan Nasional. And now, if Azmin Ali intends to brag that they have accounted 21 percent of the national economic development, it is actually the Federal Government’s total effort and not theirs.

The same goes when Azmin once claimed investment from IKEA. The Selangor PKR-DAP government merely provided a place whereas the venture is run by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Federal Government.

We also need to know that Selangor has been a developed state since 2005 and all of its development bases are solid and intact, apart from its Growth Domestic Product (GDP) is high, the present state revenue is only able to reach between RM2 billion to RM3 billion only.

Awkwardly, since the opposition bloc took over Selangor from 2008, state reserves are static and failed to hike up while reserves in other Barisan Nasional states continues to surge briskly. For example, Sarawak stated state reserves of more than ten of billions.

So will the 2018 Selangor state budget move on to expanding and improving the state economy or maintaining their usual convolution to the people?

Therefore, in order for Azmin and his allies from PKR and DAP will walk the talk and not providing rosy promises only, Selangor Barisan Nasional bloc submitted 5 propositions that definitely will meet the rakyat’s interests which are often touted by Pakatan Harapan as a party who cares.

Among others are the PKR-DAP-led state government ought to be courageous and transparent to response to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to sign the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) as well as strengthening Shariah Court institutions and reinstating the original role of the establishment of Yayasan Selangor.

In addition, BN would also forward a motion to urge the Selangor Government with its power, to revoke immediately the license holder who is proven to misuse family entertainment centre licenses, yet limiting and restricting new applications.

Should Azmin as the chief administrator and the Speaker as head of the state assembly reject these motions from the Barisan Nasional Selangor, this indicates clearly that they are in fact very incapable to do justice to the people of Selangor and disregarding their well-being and future.
