The opposition cooperation has never lasted and can never last for too long in any coalition since their first attempt in 1986. Since then, there have been 9 different groups with different names and alternated with different partners. Ever since PKR existed, they formed Barisan Alternatif and later changed to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) under the jailed de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim. Later after PAS is removed, Wan Azizah as their chief, created a new coalition ‘Pakatan Harapan’ and included ousted leaders from PAS.And today, what is more amusing is the opposition is now visited by a small and much weaker new party who is dictating them to change the name of Pakatan Harapan. Wonder what will arise later asked PM Najib Razak.
Supposing the weakest party led by Dr Mahathir, and the other members have to kowtow to his requests, to answer PM Najib Razak, it is best to just call them as Paka’Tun’ in which not only DAP or PKR, PAS too is severely affected by his demands.
If we are not as easily forgetful as these opposition leaders, just a few years during the past general elections, Dr Mahathir and Muhyiddin were the opposition favourite subjects for their campaigns. But today, as he has joined their bloc, all of the name callings from ‘MahaFiraun’ and ‘MahaZalim’ are conveniently silent. All the accusations about his wrongdoings, as a tyrant to the people and the favouritism to his cronies, are now not only asked to be forgiven, yet we can see DAP and PKR are now desperately trying to defend him.
On the same note, what happened to all the calls from Dr Mahathir against Kit Siang, who labelled him as a racist and hazardous if DAP leads the country?
This opposition bloc is just playing us out and they failed to serve an ideal to the rakyat. On one end they announced that PR is dissolved but lauded to retain the coalition in Selangor. Worst still when these hostile partners are governing a state and what will happen if they managed to capture the federal government with a ‘rojak’ agendas and leaders. Do not be surprised when the rakyat’s difficulties are pushed to the edge but had to take precedence for their internal bickerings.
It seems that Dr Mahathir’s presence to the opposition bloc has also failed to bring them together in which to emulate Barisan Nasional is far from reach. Barisan Nasional is not a copy from any ideologies but created that serves from independence purposes and up to developing the nation by multi-racial people. From then and now, BN is steadfast with their agenda that each race is represented respectively.
Unlike the opposition blocs, they are represented by different political agendas and ideologies and that is the very reason why BN can never be emulated.
So be it whether Pakatan Rakyat, Pakatan Harapan, they will continue to be mired in strife with each other which eventually, it is the people who will suffer if they are the federal government. Their internal conflict and disunity will definitely lead to our economic collapse, hence the rakyat will be ignored. When the opposition bloc is dubbed as the Paka’Tun’ while the rakyat would regard them as’ Pakatoon’ depicting how haywire they could be, they are actually ‘HOPELESS’ even to act as a ‘check and balance’ oppositions for the people.
